"Toilet trained" with mom but not dad?

Question

My almost 4 yo stepson hadn't had an accident all week long but as soon as his mom left him here with us to stay overnight he peed his pants. We asked him frequently if he needed to go to the bathroom and he said he didn't. Then he proceeded to lay down in his sister's bed, pulled the covers over himself and peed, saying that he was tired and wanted a nap. In the past he never had any problems saying he needed the bathroom but is now having problems with it. Why would he do that?

I am a childcare provider of 3 yr olds and have many yrs experience with potty training.#1.)you dont ASK the child your training if he/she needs to potty,you take them and tell them we need to go potty now ok.I used m & m`s as a reward and got lots of success
