Question:

"Turtle Table" or tank for my tiny tortoise?

My tortoise is 8 cm long (4 inches) and slowly growing. Im wondering which kind of enclosure is better for this greek tortoise, because I have a turtle table available but not a tank (terrarium). The reason im concerned about the Turtle Table is because the humidity might not stay in very well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. If you have a table, use the table. Make a 'humid hide' out of a plastic shoebox with a hole in the side and some dampened material lining it.

  2. you can't use a tank for a tortoise, it does not let in enough air flow and it keeps too much moisture which can cause respiratory infections and shell rot, a tortoise table is the best thing to keep your tortoise in tanks do not have enough floor space which is what your tortoise needs,  here is a site which has some good articles on tortoise keeping which might help you  best of luck honey

  3. a 40 gallon breeder tank would fit its whole life, but i dont get your question very well, maybe because im dead tired lol

  4. I think the table would be fine, your right, it won't hold the humidity well, but humidity isn't a big factor for most tortoises. And I know a lot of owners that have an open set up like the one you are describing, so I say go for it
