"Tyler has been everything we hoped he would be," says Rockies’ hitting coach Carney Lansford
The Colorado Rockies despite finishing last in their respective league and division have still managed to see some of their talented players getting in form.
The last game before their mid-season break was against the Washington Nationals, where not only they beat them in style, but they also won the series 2-1.
Along with some other players, Rockies’ right fielder Tyler Colvin also performed wonderfully and earned a great win for his team.
"Tyler has been everything we hoped he would be, He's been a steal for us, honestly." Hitting coach Carney Lansford said for Tyler.
Colvin made a go-ahead single on his four at-bats along with a hit which paved the way for the Rockies’ win.
Tyler commented on his contribution which proved a winning factor for his team and said, "I'm just keeping things simple, trying to look at things evenly, It's a long, long season, so I can't afford to get too high or too low. The approach just wasn't there, It was a mind-set that I was just going up there to hit a home run."
Later manager Jim Tracy commented on his player’s tremendous performance, "He has a chance to be a really, really good hitter, plus his versatility is a bonus, He's a wonderful addition to our ballclub and will be going forward. I promise you that."
This is a healthy sign for the Rockies whose players are getting in form. The second half of the season will be starting in couple of days time while these players especially Colvin will try his best to achieve a post season spot for the Rockies.
He ended his half season break achieving wonderful stats of hitting .305 along with 13 homers and 40 RBIs.
The Rockies on the other hand, also need some good performances from their senior players. At the moment, they are sitting at the fifth position in the National League West with 33-52 win-loss along with .388 winning percentage. Currently this is too low for them to qualify into a potential post season spot.
The team need at-least a .500 winning percentage to begin their race towards a possible playoff contention.
