I like ultimate fighting, but who is the regulatory body behind it.

It seems like it's getting to be like boxing with all kinds of different ruling bodies.

Which ones are the "real thing" that have the best fighters.

I hope it does not get to be like boxing (maybe it is already) or worse yet, like professional "wrestling".

  1. Well Ultimate Fighting, or UFC is one of the organizations in MMA.  It is the dominant organization right now.  Most of the others are treated almost like the minor league in baseball.  Professional wrestling is a soap opera, so no MMA will never be like that.  With MMA though, there is no ruling body that I know of.  So each promotion will have their own set of rules.  Some for example allow fighters to kick another fighter in the head while they're down, the UFC doesn't allow that.

So, every single one of those promotions is "real", and Ultimate Fighting Championship is but one of them.
