Big thing in London. Average cost £100,000+ to dig out existing foundations and add a basement.

But what about the risks of flooding?

  1. Not all properties are built in flat areas where there is a risk of flooding.

    You can't say because an idea is a bad one in a minority of situations, it will be a bad thing everywhere.

    London is undulating, but it isn't flat.


  2. sounds  easy  but  not  so   ..

    1..hit  bedrock.  

    2.  hit  water  table  ..lots  of  flooding  ...

    3..subsidence  due  to  undermining   foundations  

    4. need  to .have  lots  of  money

    5..permission  from   planning  ...not  easy  

    6. permission  from  neighbours   omg   .

    7.  is  it  worth  the  hazzle
