"We're prepared to move on from Zack," says Los Angeles Angels' general manager Jerry Dipoto
Los Angeles Angels' general manager Jerry Dipoto is considered one of the most intelligent Major League Baseball GMs. He always remains optimistic to bring in any opportunity that might help the franchise’s bigger initiative to win championships.
Last year, he was the front man, who showed his negotiation skills and landed one of the most coveted Major League players Albert Pujols in the Los Angeles franchise. However, experts believe that now the dimension has changed for the Angels’ GM as he is not considering Zack Greinke a potential long term valuable player for the team.
According to a recent statement, the Angels’ GM has officially made some comments which are clearly suggesting that Greinke is not a consideration for the Angels. Earlier Angels were the foremost team in big league, who showed enormous amount of interest to sign him for next potential seasons.
"We're prepared to move on from Zack, Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is make practical decisions. Nobody operates without a ceiling," Dipoto said, when asked whether budget constraints pushed him toward Blanton.
He added, "In the last 10 days, we've added four accomplished major league pitchers, Some have upside, some have durability. We've plugged holes in a quality way. Building one-through-12 depth on the pitching staff has been our goal throughout. I feel like we have 11 guys in place now, and every one of them can take the mound and give us competitive innings.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers are also saying that they will not be considering Zack Greinke after pursuing him for almost two months. Their top management has also recently told the media that Greinke is not a priority at the moment.
Greinke is a highly talented player and knows all the tricks of the trade with his best abilities. He has been in Major League Baseball for a long time now and now considered one of the best starters in the entire league.
He last played for the Los Angeles Angels and showed them his true class. He proved his fast and curving pitches with his consistent 3.48 ERA along with 15-5 win loss, 200 strike-outs and 1.20 WHIP.
