"We are prepared to. You have to make smart decisions," says Los Angeles Angels GM Jerry Dipoto
Los Angeles Angels’ general manager Jerry Dipoto seems quite optimistic regarding his team’s winning chances next season. He was recently busy attending this year’s Major League Baseball’s annual Winter Meetings but as he finished meeting with almost entire
league’s big executives, he briefly spoke to the media and explained in detail about his next season’s plans.
The very first matter Dipoto needed to solve out was to deal with Zack Greinke’s free agency. Greinke, who now is a member of Los Angeles Dodgers, was earlier linked with Los Angeles Angels for a potential re-signing.
As Greinke signed with the Dodgers, the Angels general manager came out more open and stated in the media alarming not on the coming future instead, Jerry Dipoto spoke quite briefly that the Angels even without Greinke will be a successful unit.
Dipoto, though earlier did fancy Greinke’s arrival and re-signing with the Angels, however, as Greinke and his agent thought otherwise and made a potential deal with the Dodgers, the Angels’ GM came out in the media and showed no worries at all.
Dipoto said in detail and told the reporters regarding every aspect of the Angels’ future chances in the biggest baseball league in the world, "We are always looking to get better, but what we've done in the last couple of days is we've put ourselves in
position where we are fortified and stable, We aren't going to have to make further additions."
Regarding Greinke and not been able to sign him in this offseason, Dipoto said and explained about his options for a better pitching offence next season, "We are a pitching staff that needed to fortify our innings to make sure that we can field, 1 to 12,
as competitive a pitching staff as we can field, I feel right now we have 11 guys and every one of those guys is a competitive major league pitcher. To that extent I feel we are in pretty good shape."
Excluding Greinke, many experts still believe that the Angels’ have a good pitching unit with Jared Weaver and C.J. Wilson who will be giving them required fire power as well.
