  1. Unhappiliy, there appears to be a liberal bias in much of media.  There has been a great deal of hay made over the "Unjust and illegal war."

Suddenly there's a massive stock pile of yellow cake?  Never mind large amounts of nerve gas for the Kurds.  Yellow cake could make a pretty big fire cracker.  Better downplay this one...bury near the classifieds.

  2. Calm down, guys.

This particular stockpile was a renmant from Saddam's effort to get his nuclear reactor working in 1981 before Israel disposed of it.

By 1991 the yellowcake in question was identified, sealed and stored by the UN.

It was always accounted for and that's why not even Bush made an issue of it, nor did Colin Powell in his UN presentation which turned out to be all wrong.

  3. When my brother in law came back from his first tour in Iraq (he was part of the WMD search team), he said straight out "Not only did we find the yellowcake, but tons and tons of active Serin in oil barrels, bombs filled with chlorinates, and tons of other NBC weapons."

When I asked him why it hasn't made CNN, MSNBC or the networks, he just shrugged.  "I can only tell you what I saw with my own eyes."

I've known for quite awhile that this "No WMD" was bogus, but what can ya' do?

  4. Because it's not news? This was leftover stuff from Saddam's 80s nuclear program, under UN and American eyes since Gulf War One. This is one of the last steps in dismantling those programs, barely newsworthy at all. Even Bush has acknowledged that Saddam had no secret WMD programs. If evidence of such surfaced (which this most definitely isn't,) Bush would be live on every channel crowing about it.

  5. No one claimed the President was lying about an Iraqi stockpile of yellowcake.  The issue five years ago was about the President lying about Iraq attempting to buy yellowcake from Niger.

The US did not launch the invasion because Iraq had yellowcake.  The US invaded because the Bush administration claimed that Iraq had huge stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons and an active nuclear program.  There was no evidence that either of these things was true.  On the contrary, the evidence suggested the opposite, and the opposite is exactly what turned out to be true.  Bush himself admitted in 2004 that no WMDs were found, and the nuclear "program," as it turned out, was "decayed" (see links).

The yellowcake that has been in the news recently is not some new discovery.  The US has known about this for some time.  If this were evidence of the robust nuclear program that Saddam supposedly had, then indeed, why isn't it front page news, or at the very least why isn't the Bush administration trumpeting this fact?  Think about it and the reason should become clear to you.

  6. Thought this might be appropriate:

  7. When did he lie about about it?  And you can't stockpile Yellow Cake.  It is a sub-unit of nuclear enrichment.  It is not newsworthy.  It has been under our care since 2003, and is just now out of the country.  What do you want him to say?  "I'm sorry everyone, but we just found more evidence that I was correct about the WMD theory..."

  8. The propaganda was they were close to building atomic bomb. There is many years and huge amount of inter structure between yellow cake and bomb.
