Question:

"bird bin" keets and hand-fed keets?

I currently have 2 untamed Parakeets that I bought from Petco 4 months ago, i just found a store close by that sells hand-fed Parakeets. I was thinking about buying another because I would really love to have a Parakeet that would easily be tamed. I love the ones I have now, but all efforts to tame them have been useless. If I put them all in the same cage...Would the untamed ones rub off on the new one? or vise versa.

  1. Hello.

I have bred birds for almost 4 years . I hand fed babies birds up to more than 1000 babies birds ...I come to this fact ...as long as I hand fed them, they are sweet and tame and lovable and they fly to me and wait in line to get fed ( I have pictures to prove it too ...lol...) . As soon as I stop hand fed them and they eat by themseves , they become nippy . However, cockateils are staying sweet & tame longer than parakeets, parrotlets and the rest of them birds ...So , parakeets , if you want them to like you , come to you and don't bite you ...you need to get them not only  hand fed babies but  when they are just weaned then be one on one and handle them every day , they will get used to you and stay sweet & nice that way ( it goes with all the birds ) Remember, only put the bird by itself , otherwise if the bird has companionship it will go with the rest and no longer need you or your attention . Hope this help . TM.

  2. The reason that the birds are not interested in you is because you have two of them. You can go and buy two or three hand tame babies. After a few days with your birds they will be just like them. The reason that a bird bonds with a person is because they don't have any other birds to bond with. Give them another bird (even different species) and they will bond with it before a human.
