i want to celebrate at the hospital her "birthday",then a year later she will be 21 months old. if everyone that has ever been born, used this as "practical" wouldnt every birthday that ever happened be celeberated correctly?most are 9 months old at birth,if you celebrate 3 months later that would be 1 year/ why are people not understanding that they are really at least 9 months older when they celebrate the first year, and their death certificate should reflect the truth??

  1. because you celebrate the day you actually got out of your mommy and took your first breathe... ? you dont' celebrate the date you were conceived!

  2. Because full human life begins at birth, not conception.  (Hence the different legal status between the unborn and the born child in most jurisdictions.)

  3. Cos you celebrate the day you were BORN not conceived. I agree though, it does make more sense your way.

  4. It is strange that most countries don't do it this way, I agree. Maybe it has something to do with not knowing who they are for those nine months. You don't know for certain the gender, their personality, or what they look like. Perhaps it's because the record starts when they are born, not conceived. I'm really not quite sure why though.
