I've bought an HP dv6000 laptop last month. But recently, I began noticing "clunk noises" on the left side of my mouse pad, just below the fan. I dont know what it is and it wasn't there before. I think it might be hardware related. I usually hear it whenever i run java for games. Please help. Should I be worried about it? What is the noise about? Also what does the icon that looks like '3 cds on top of each other' mean? Thanks!

  1. make sure that either noise coming from the speaker or it is coming from laptop.if it is  laptop ur hardrive is going to be dead soon.it is called media problem and if its under warranty then should be no problem.the icon must be about disk writting software.

  2. it sounds like a hard drive making noise.  run a chkdsk c: -r from the dos command.  this will look for error and tell you if you have a problem

  3. I had the same problem. Shortly after purchasing my laptop, it started making that noise. I was told by a technician to restart my computer so I did...and it wouldn't restart. My whole entire hard drive was wiped out. I had to get it replaced.

My advice would be to back up your files now, before restarting, then go on the company's website and make sure everything is updated properly. After that, see if your warranty would cover this issue and work with a technician to get it repaired. But before you do anything: BACK UP YOUR FILES.

Edit: I tried to do a check using DOS command and everything showed up fine. My computer was pretty messed up and nothing was showing in error...the technicians were very confused. lol
