  1. I feel terrible about it.  But what is really even worse is the way Americans talk about the death toll in Iraq.

Ask even the most liberal, most critical person how many people have been killed in the war and he will say 4,000.  But in fact as many as 600,000 people have been killed, it's just that the VAST majority of them are Iraqi so we don't care about them.

We Americans tend to think that wars are things that happen in other places, to other people.  Americans don't care about foreigners dying.  So it's easy for any American president to send bombers, because the chances of American casualties are almost nil.  We just don't care where the bombs land.

To this day, Americans talk about the 55,000 American boys who died in Vietnam, never about the more than 2 million Vietnamise and (by our own CIA's estimates) the 700,000 Cambodians killed by American aerial bombardment.

Thomas Jefferson (one of our founders) once said "I tremble for my country when I think that our God is a just God."  He was talking about slavery, but today he would be talking about our foreign wars.

  2. I think that America needs to exit Iraq as soon as possible. The common fear is that Iraq will come to the United States and invade sections of the country.

Let me tell you something about that. If Iraq came into our country to raid and destroy, we can destroy them 10 times quicker here then there. The problem about the War in Iraq is that we can't bring all of our resources over to Iraq, but if we already have them here, it will be fine..

All I can wish for is that the next president will do their best to bring our country out of the terrorism war as soon as possible!

Too much money is being distributed to this war that us, tax payers are dealing with!

  3. The Bin Laden family, according to what I have read here in the states from the media, have been "close family friends," of the Bush family for many, many years dating back to Bush Senior's years in the White House.

Was 911 an elaborate plan to invade Iraq? For what reason? Some say, oil. Other's say all the gold that Saddam had hidden from the days of biblical times.

Or still other's say it was a simple case of revenge for his Father who failed in his attempts to right Iraq.

Whatever the reason, "WE," as a nation are not happy with what has transpired.

If you would like to read more about some of the thoughts on this subject, might I suggest these websites:

    http://www.myspace.com/patriotsspeakout

    http://www.myspace.com/robulusz

Both of these are "myspace," websites, I don't know if you have to join to view them (As I am a member), however, it is free if you need to.

Try going to them and read what they have to say. They are eye-wakening and if one takes what the media spits out and what these sites say and then tries to find a middle ground, surely it will be unlike what you have read, reagardless.

Thank you for your interest in our country and it's peoples.

  4. I decry every death in every war.  Iraq is just the latest manifestation of the human propensity to attempt to impose beliefs on others through war.

But, we, as humans, haven't transcended to a consciousness level that has a deep understanding that we can and should embrace all others in a worldview, rather than always believing that our identities will be lost if our cultures are intertwined to form an all encompassing human culture rather than a tribal one.

So, until that consciousness is embraced, we must defend ourselves with force and express our superiority through military strength.

  5. I am not from US but I still feel terrible for the families of those 4000 soldiers.

This was another war fought for nothing.

But why is it that all the recent wars - Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Serbia, etc have all happened when US had a republican President
