In other words, T squared is directly proportional to length. Thus, if the string is 4 times its original length, its period should be square of 4 times, which is 16 times the original period.

    T2=2*pi*sqr(4l/g) (new period)

    divide these equations

    T1/T2=1/sqr(4)=0.5

    so T2=2*T1
