It depends on what you mean by "a lot" and what they are doing while on the computer.  I think some folks get a bad rap because it is assumed that if you spend your life on the computer, you are a pervert or a sociopath of some sort.  In reality, sitting at home on the computer is no worse than sitting in front of the TV, video gaming, reading, or other activities.  The issue is that you should be out socializing rather than banging on a keyboard.  I say, what's the difference, and what's the big deal?  If that's how you want to live your life, so be it.  As long as it doesn't negatively affect your job, family, or social responsibilities, what's the problem?


  2. Depends where you live - I work in a country where socially and culturally there are big differences from the West - also the weather is very hot most of the year.

    Many of the expats spend a lot of time on the internet - reading the news, listening to radio, emailing friends, contributing to forums like this - it's a way of maintaining your cultural identity and most of us don't think it's weird - our other choice is sitting drinking in bars or walking around shopping malls.
