  1. That's about right, 8 months. You can mix "green" wood with dry "seasoned" wood in a fire after you get a good bed of coals, if you are short on dry wood.

  3. Generally "Seasoned" firewood was cut last year (last season).  That gives the wood time to dry for better burning, so 9 months or so, unless you already cut it up, then a shorter time.
