  1. Somebody who is a r****d. And I hate how these days that 'r****d' is the name you use on somebody when you're mad at them/you think they did sumthin dumb THAT IS NOT WHAT r****d MEANS GEEZ PEOPLE if you are retarded it means you have a serious mental disorder also people who go to a special ed school yeah some are retards others just have learning disorders and stuff

  2. To be classified sp-ed, you have to have a disability or medical dx that inhibits you ability to learn. There are 13 different criteria's under IDEA.

There is no such thing as ADD, this is not a legal dx. The true dx is in fact ADHD. Recieve accomidations or IEP ( under Other Health Impairment) w/ ADHD.  To be dx with ADHD, you have to exhibit 6/9 of certain behaviors, over 6 months and you much have exhibited some behaviors before you were 7.

A little note to those before me, i personally do not believe a medical professional should soley dx ADHD. This is the reason why so many children are dx w/ ADHD and are medicated. The parents take them to the GP, tell them that they can sit still or this or that and the GP without actually knowing how to dx AHD and without proper psychological assessments, make a dx of ADHD. I would be skeptical of a person dx with ADHD or any many other disorders in the DSM (schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, etc) that was dx by a physician.

  3. To be in speacial ED you have to have low grades and or be falling behind your other classmates. A person in speacal ED normally has a hard time understanding the lessons or studying. Some may understand it and study for hours and when the test comes their minds go blank.

As for ADD click on this link it will tell you the systems of ADD in adults and children and explain more then I can here.

  4. There are many reasons a student is classified as Special Ed, some more obvious than others. If a teacher, a parent, or even a student, expresses concern about learning ability or progress, consistently and over a period of time, any of them can request an IEP. That is a meeting at which others involved in the student's education assess and discuss (and possibly order testing regarding) the student's educational progress and needs.

ADD can be diagnosed only by a medical professional. Typically, it is a teacher, parent, coach, even the person him/herself who requests this diagnosis.

  5. As i am in Special Ed, i know alot of people, some have ADD, ADHD, some who have a learning disablity and the list goes on.

  6. to be special ed you have to have a cognitive disability, not necessarily be mentally retarded- you can be emotionally disabled, behaviorally- basically anything that requires you to use special accomidations- Limited may consider her off goings on political correctness and realize saying someone is mentally retarded is not wrong it is a diagnosis, but calling someone a r****d is wrong- it is placing their diagnosis before their human qualities equally inconsiderabley labeling them- it would be like calling someone who is handicapped a handicap- if add is severe enough it can lead to special ed classes- typically ADD is just handled with meds, and little to no accomidations on behalf of the school.

  7. ADD is a medical condition that can only be diagnosed by a qualified medical professional.  In order to be in special education a student must have special needs which cannot be adequately met in the mainstream classroom.  For example, I have ADD (diagnosed by a psychiatrist), and for my early school years I needed special classes where I'd get more one-on-one help with reading and math, but by the time I got to high school and college, I'd figured out how to get things done on my own and didn't need that help anymore.

  8. To be special ed someone has to have a bad learning disorder. TO have add someone has to be unable to focas ans oay attention.
