Does this mean that he is in good condition and happy, or just trying to be arrogant to you because you dont look rich (or you look poor)?

  1. actually an answer like that would have made me laugh - and not in a snarky way

this from someone that works the front desk of a hotel and gets asked 'how are you?' dozens of times a day as if it were a greeting - like its part of a salutation.  'How are you' is a question and if you don't really care, please don't ask.  After a while you get tired of answering 'fine' and want to bust out with the 'well, since you asked - my grandmother's in the hospital and all she can do is mumble 'mashed potatoes', my dog is losing clumps of fur around my house like dandelion spoor thanks to the heat and my nephew is several years advanced in his reading.  My hamsters are as cute and fuzzy as always and today one of them sat on my nose while I was trying to take a nap.  So I guess I'm doing pretty okay' - just so people will stop asking a question they don't really want the answer to (its a pet peeve - bet you couldn't tell).

Seriously though - it all depends on the tone of voice.  Personally, 'wealthy' sounds good to me and your answer when he said 'and you?' should have been 'dateable'.  I'd take it as a joke but even if he meant it mean or snobbish - eh, who cares?  If you didn't know him well enough to know if he was joking, he's not anyone that matters in your life anyway.  If he was being a jerk, by now he's moved on to be a jerk to other people and you can safely forget about him.

  2. either he is a wanker or he is talking about the vast riches of happiness and health he has that does not include money. no wait. thats a wanker too then.

  3. if in polite conversational greeting you ask "how are you" the proper response is not to reply with your bank holdings. i would believe that reply was meant to assert that they believe that they are better than you, thus a snob. i would reply with "i hope you are charitable to others less fortunate" and smile.

i would also never inquire as to their health ever again....

  4. It clearly means "he/she is an Idiot"! What kind of response is that ? He/she clearly, is a "SNOB" and "SHOW OFF" with all the capital letters!

  5. Probably, he meant that he's fine. He's not being arrogant or anything. I think it's another way of saying that he is indeed very fine or feeling very fine.
