It was filmed mostly in Tuscany, which is a Region (sort of a State, for my American friends) in the North-center of Italy. Cortona and Florence are just 2 cities in Tuscany. Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze is just a Bank.

Most of the village/town scenes were filmed in Cortona or Montepulciano.  Both towns are pretty close to each other in the Tuscany area.  In Cortona, they sell postcards with production stills of the actors filming various scenes in the town square :-)

The beautiful beach town is Positano - along the Amalfi Coast.
