  1. That's like saying, in golf, "If you want to play the Masters, you have to play the U.S. Open."

    Or in tennis: "If you want to play Wimbledon, you have to play the French Open."

    It doesn't make much sense.


  2. i do. it always rankels me when some fresh horse who has not "earned" his way to the Belmont comes in and steals the show.  apples and oranges.

    i posted 2 q's myself about BB today.  i have changed my mind after reading so many responses ....the whole sytem is based on tradition, and it is the true test of a champion to defeat any and all comers. chomp, chomp, chomp....me eating my own words....lol

    somethings are better left unchanged.

The Belmont is supposed to be the test of the champion.  It wouldn't be much of a test if he only had to run against horses he already beat.  There's tons of reasons that a horse would opt for the Belmont over the other races and all horses who want to try in the Belmont ought to be allowed to be there.  No restrictions.
