1. Mini Rex are great first rabbits. they are small, around 4 pounds full grown. They require little grooming, trim nails every 4-6 weeks, wipe their coat with a damp cloth or baby wipe and that's it.

Females can become territorial when they reach maturity at 6 months but I have found that is only if they are around other rabbits. Single Mini Rex by themselves seldom develop any aggression. Either a buck or doe will be fine as an only pet.

Make sure you get a good rabbit pellet for your new pet. One with at least 15% protein and 20% fiber. Do not buy the kind with brightly colored bits in it, these contain sugar and rabbits cannot digest sugar.

Rabbits like to have hay to eat also. They do need fresh cool water daily.

Do not buy your rabbit from a petstore. Please find a breeder in your area. Petstore rabbits often come with multiple health problems along with behavior issues. By puchasing from a reputable breeder you will get a healthy purbred rabbit that will come with the added bonus of a person who can give you advice and help with your pet.

You can find a breeder by going to an ARBA rabbit show.

Go to the ARBA website and follow the shows link to find a show in your state.

Good luck finding your new pet. Rabbits are great and entertaining pets.

  2. hi, get a mini lop, they are small, easy to handle, they have the cutest face and beautifull fur, a buck is a better pet as does can get grumpy after maturity, if you are in the uk i can recomend a local breeder to you as i am a rabbit breeder myself, i would recomend getting your rabbit from a breeder as you can see mum and dad too

Make sure you get change over food from the breeder this is free, rabbits are very sensative to change in diet and a sudden change in food can be fatal in a baby rabbit, also you will usually get a care sheet aswell which tells you how to look after your new bunny

  3. Don't get a rabbit. They are more trouble than they are worth. Get a cat. We have a rabbit and I will NEVER get another one, it was for my daughter. The rabbit is not nice and just more work than I wanted. Live and learn. I love cats. ♥

  4. get a mini rex

they are so cute and have the softest fur

  5. is it your first rabbit?

id get a dutch rabbit, they are generally laid back temperament and easy to care for, it doesn't really matter but if you get a girl and don't get her spayed she can get ill if she isn't bred, males don't HAVE to be neutered unless they scent everything and 'spray' then it can be easier to get him neutered
