1. i feel stupid, but im guessing their equivalent!

  2. Im assuming you are solving for Y, which is stupid since each Absolute Value has 2 answers. Is that even possible to solve? What have you done? Thats either not possible or some crazy ridiculous problem seeing as how it just cant be done in any way I know how to do it.

  3. if the vertical lines mean moduli Then try squaring both the sides

    wait a min. is it just me or this equation is outrightly bogus. hey u wasted my whole 2 mins. Oh so silly of me to solve that. Don't laff

  4. Do you mean |3/(5y-1)|=|1/(2y-4)| or |(3/5y)-1|=|(1/2y)-4|? I'm assuming it's the first one:

    3/(5y-1)=1/(2y-4) or 3/(5y-1)=-1/(2y-4)

    3/(5y-1)=1/(2y-4)

    => 3(2y-4)=5y-1

    => 6y-12=5y-1

    => y=11

    3/(5y-1)=-1/(2y-4)

    => 3(2y-4)=-(5y-1)

    => 6y-12=-5y+1

    => 11y=13

    => y=13/11
