1. I'm pretty sure that x=1.

    ok first you distribute the 6 to the x/2 and the 1.

    so now you have 6x/2+6=9.

    6x/2 can be simplified to 3x.

    sooo 3x+6=9

    subtract 6 from both sides of the equation.

    and you get 3x=3

    divide both sides of the equation by 3.

    x=1

    i hope this helped :)

  2. 6(x/2+1)=9

    First distribute the parentheses (PEMDAS - parentheses first)

    (6x)/2 + 6 = 9

    3x + 6 = 9

    You want to get the x on its own, so subtract 6 from both sides:

    3x = 3

    Then divide by 3:

    x = 1

    Either you or they have made a mistake. It's not -5. Are you sure you're looking at the answer for that particular question, in that chapter and section?

  3. x=1

  4. I got x = 1, too!

  5. Are you sure the problem wasn't 6(x/2+1)= -9?
