My MIL is driving me nuts! She undermines my every turn and I can't take it anymore. If I ask her not to let my son sleep past 4 as he won't go to bed at the right time guess what? If I tell her my daughter needs 4 ozs of milk before her solids guess which she gives her first? It's like she looks at me and says 'look what I did when you weren't here....oooppppsss (giggle)'

She a wonderful Grandma and all that but she's the worst MIL ever!

Help me please

  1. look at it this way ( I used to have the SAME problems with my kids and in laws) but she raised your husband and you found him good enough to marry, so she must have SOME clue as to how to raise a child. Yes you dont like that he's up all night cause she lets him nap too long, but really, you can just keep reminding her and if she keeps doing it, there's nothing you can do until you dont need her anymore (which if it's like me, wont be for a while)

I would tell my father in law that he was gonna give my kids diabetes cause he gave them sweets at such a young age (like 4 months giving sweets!) or giving honey which kids aren't supposed to have til they're like 2, giving them adult ensure.. .. I've printed things off the internet, given them to them, makes no difference. Tell them the kids are off the bottles and sippy cups and then they're hiding the bottles when I get there. It's no use, just stop fighting and let them be, your kids will be big before you know it and these problems will be gone

  2. She is NOT a good MIL NOR a good grandma. She must NOT be allowed to watch the kid alone....end of discussion., If she doesn't understand, tell her she is causing the kid stress and you stress unnecessarily...tell her she is welcome to see the kid when YOU say so from now on. not another time. She is doing this on pourpose, believe me. She is a passive agressive. Forget about her.

  3. Try to relax. If she loves the kids, let her. If you drop them off with no instructions then she can't pointedly ignore them, can she? She raised you husband to adulthood; trust her with the kids. If naptime is a problem don't leave them there for that. This sounds like you're rolling over, but you're really being so clever you're beating her at her own game.

  4. Get a babysitter who will follow orders

  5. Whose child is this anyway?

    Who is in charge here?

    Stand up or shut up.

And if you DON'T stand up: Shame on you.

  6. the whole question is do you live with her and if you do move out of her house well despite her being a pain in the butt at least she is a wonderful grandmother

  7. Write down what you want for your child. Allow for days when schedules just do not work.

Allow her to be a grandma, its hard to be a mother in law to a woman.

I have made my share of mistakes that I never meant to hurt people by.

Remember, she did raise your husband but at the same time see if you two can come to some type of agreement.

Its not easy on both of you.

I swear half of these questions on here could be answered yourselves if people would just communicate.

  8. If she is wonderful otherwise, then count your blessings and just avoid the situations where she does things that bother you, and just smile when they happen anyway. At least you don't have a monster-in-law.

  9. Oh ffs life is too short to fight with people, chin up and swallow your pride, be nice

  10. everybody has their own way of doing things..and maybe she likes it her way because she feels 'she knows best'. If you really want things done your way, i suggest you keep your distances when it comes to parenting.

  11. You are the mother and if she can not respect you do not let her care for your children. She will eventually turn them against you. I think she thinks that she knows best try having a talk with her.
