I just started taking Sotret 40, twice a day. I was wondering.... and i know this may sound stupid, but will the isotrentoin be present in my sperm? Like say someone were to.... oh i don't know.... swallow it.... would this effect them? Also how about if it were placed into another o*****e, such as one's v****a. The dr. told me there is no direct correlation between males on accutane and birth defects, so I'm assuming it is not present in the sperm. Please and thank you for any advice/knowledge that can be provided.

There is some evidence that isotretinoin can be present at low concentrations in s***n (see the iPledge information that was given to you when you started on the medication), though it is normally processed by the liver and excreted in both the urine and f***s.  If you are concerned about this, talk more with your doctor.

When taking one of those drugs you must join IPLEDGE. Those drugs can cause SEVERE birth defects. While swallowing sperm won&#039;t cause a birth defect, if you came inside a woman and got her pregnant it would. Males need to promise they will be sexually responsible. And women need to be on birth control and take pregnancy tests frequently. It scares me that you are so unsure of this, your Dr. should have gone over this with you. Google IPLEDGE for more info.
