these three terms means different things...i would like to see if christians can define them by scripture or by explanation....thanks

  1. Sin is essentially anything that goes against the will of God. The word, iniquity, comes from in-equity and it refers to that which is unequal, unfair, or unjust. That explains why David in Psalm 32:5 refers to &quot;the iniquity of my sin.&quot; His sinful actions had the character of iniquity; of being unequal. Transgression means a violence of the law, like the Israelites transgressed the ten commandments on there way to the promise land.


  2. I believe you are mistaken about these words not meaning basically the same.

    SIN - noun  

    * Estrangement from God.  

    * An act that is regarded by theologians as a transgression of God&#039;s will.  

    * (colloquial) violent and excited activity; &quot;they began to fight like sin&quot;.

    SIN - verb

    * Commit a sin; violate a law of God.

    * Commit a faux pas or fault.

    SIN - synonyms: culpable, depraved, flagitious, heinous, iniquitous, nefarious, peccable, piacular, sinful, unrepentant, venial, wicked

    TRANSGRESSION - noun

    * The act of transgressing; evil behavior; going beyond allowable limits.

    TRANSGRESSION - synonyms: breach, crime, disobedience, error, infraction, infringement, misbehavior, misdeed, offense, sin, trespass, violation, wrongdoing  

    INIQUITY - noun

    * Absence of moral or spiritual values; &quot;the powers of darkness&quot;.

    * Morally objectionable behavior.

    * An unjust act.

    INIQUITY - synonyms: depravity, evil, immorality, infamy, miscreancy, offense, sin, vice, wrong
