Ok...i live in an apartment complex kind of in the middle of nowhere but there are plenty of other people around. I sleep in the basement and sometimes forget to take things like gatorade bottles up to the kitchen to throw away. but they only sit for a couple of days. For the past couple weeks ive been killing these medium sized brown-black bugs and didn't know what they were. I showed one to my mom and they are roaches. I sprayed BugMax365 which supposedly keeps them away but im afraid there might be a nest or something. What do i do? help!!

  1. Hydrochloric acid comes in a powder-dump it on carpeting and insist that your landlord fumigate-a disgrace if he doesn't, then vacuum it up.

  2. you say you sleep in the basement and the bugs r med size brownblack in color.um...sounds like 'water 'bugs that come out of the sewer at night .you could start by being a little neater, cleaning up after yourself right away, duh!you could also buy glue boards and put them by the sewer(s) and in the corners.but for GODS sake be cleaner.

  3. go buy some "Boraxo" from your local supermarket. It is a household cleaner that has boric acid in it. boric acid kills roaches. Sprinkle it along the baseboards and the roaches walk through it and then go back to the nest. Roaches gleen (clean) themselves and each other. They will clean the boraxo on them and die.

  4. It sounds more like water bugs... you do mention you live in the basement. Check for dripping water and try to buy roach baits that they eat and take to their colony and kills them. I believe the best one is called Combat and your problem should be solved

  5. clean up your garbage. Bugs come when they find food. Leaving sweet drinks like gatorade around for a couple of days is just plain asking for trouble.

CLEAN up. Everything. Garbage containers, cups, plates, pizza boxes, etc. Eliminate their food source completely. Seal any holes where they may be getting in (they only need a very tiny crack). Coackroaches like heat and moisure.

The go to the local drugstore and get some boric acid. Sprinkle it along the baseboards and inside cupboards. It will keep them away. Be careful if you have pets or c hildren around.

  6. Your bugs sound like water bugs that come from the sewer at night... what I would recommend you do is buy some bug traps, place them where you believe they are needed... or you can get some chipboard paper and smother honey and syrup on it (RAW HONEY) and Presto! a homemade bug trap. you could also place a large peice of wood or a board on top of any sewage drains you might have. And then buy many types of air fresheners and spray down your area. cleaning might help too. Once you find live ones... buy hydrochlorric pouder and sprinkle lightly over a rug, blanket etc. etc. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I hope this helps!

  7. The smaller ones only live inside. If you see a lot of them, you probably have an infestation, and will need to really clean up and treat everything. If it is bad, you will need a pro to do it for you.

If they are the big ones, 1" plus long, they are wood roaches, which will come in when it starts getting really hot or really cold. they can't survive long indoors. Just treat around the doorways, windows, and baseboards, and this should help get rid of them.
