1. Beginning January 08 - you will need a passport. Now you will need proof that you have applied for one.

If you do not have your passport- then you will need your birth certificate and a photo ID (drivers licence, whatever).

  2. I went on a Carribean cruise - I did not need a passport. I did need an official birth certificate and a VALID driver's license, plus one other form of ID - school id, credit card, social security card, etc. If you've been married, but divorced, you may want to bring a copy of your divorce papers along - I think only if you've changed your name since - not sure, but I know my Best friend had to show hers.

  3. You need to check. They'll normally tell you on the website of your cruise line. Also, the laws have changed very recently (as of January 1) so make sure you get the most up-to-date information.

  4. The old rules did not require a passport for cruise travel. Today, you need a passport even to cruise within the US.

You'll need a passport and a valid credit card at a minimum.

  5. Your now need a Passport. The U.S. requires it now. Starting January 2008 you will need it even when you travel to Canada. This is the new rules they put in place recently. I do believe you will also need you valid photo id. If you book your cruise with a travel agent, they should be able to confirm this for sure. Have fun!

  6. It used to be that you could cruise with a government issued ID card and a birth certificate. Now the rules have changed and you do need a passport.

    PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

Please be advised that while originally the U.S. Department of State regulations stipulated that passports would be needed by January 8, 2007 for land and sea travel, recently passed legislation has deferred this date until at least January 1, 2008. However, all passengers traveling by air between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will still be required to present a valid U.S. passport beginning January 23, 2007. Even if your cruise does not involve air travel outside the U.S., should you be required to unexpectedly depart a vessel prior to the end of the sailing, a passport would be required to re-enter the U.S. by air. As such, Princess Cruises continues to strongly recommend that all passengers are in possession of a passport by January 23, 2007. Information regarding the passport requirements is available at www.travel.state.gov. Foreign nationals should contact their governments for further details.

  7. Currently, you do need a passport to cruise to a foreign country. In addition to the passport, you 'll also need the documentation sent to you by the cruiseline to prove that you paid for the cruise so they'll board you.

  8. Hi how are you? Well I just got back about a week ago from my first cruise with Royal Carribean!! I had the same questions as you and after some research I found out that you will NOT need a passport to go on a cruise until Jan of 2008! What you will need is a Drivers License and original birth certificate (not a photo copy). If you are a married female then you WILL need your original marriage license if your last name is no longer your maiden name. You will NOT need your social security card at all. HOWEVER it is HIGHLY recommended for you to have a Passport being that you do need one to FLY out of the USA. So god forbid the boat leaves you at a port you will be able to fly back otherwise you will be stuck!!! My husband and I took the chance of going on the cruise without our passports and I have to say everything went very smoothly. Well I hope this answered your questions if you have any other questions you can email me!! Have a great VACATION!!!!!

  9. Yes you will need a passport. A drivers license is good to have too, but a passport is absolutely necessary.

  10. The new passport rules regarding cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico are as follows:

Until January 2008 you only need a picture ID and an original birth certificate (or ceritfied copy) This is for cruise ship entry back into the United States. Most of the ports you visit will require only a picture ID. The cruise will inform you of any different practice.

From January 2008 forward a passport will be required. So if you plan on cruising next year get your passport now as there is a tremendous backlog.

Also, if you need to fly into the US from another country you will need a passport to get back in. So if you are forced to return home early for some reason (a highly unlikely event) you will need a passport. Those regs went into effect Januaryu of this year.

  11. Whenever you travel to another country you should always bring your passport with you incase sometimes happens to you or sometimes happens in the country your in and you need to get out quick or get to the embassy etc..

Always carry your passport when in an international country.

Bring your passport, credit card etc.. Just like any other vacation.

    BRING THE PASSPORT!
