1. The "offer details" section states;

    "...Simply click "Submit" on the next page to claim your FREE Credit Profiles and Score and activate your trial membership in Privacy Protection Plus. After your 7-day FREE trial, the membership fee of $29.95 per month will be charged by Privacy Protection Plus to the credit card you use today, and then automatically charged each month at the then-current monthly membership fee so long as you remain a member. Of course, you can call us toll-free at 1-866-444-1837 within the first 7 days to cancel - you will have paid nothing and owe nothing. Remember, Privacy Protection Plus comes with our guarantee - you can call to cancel at any time and you will no longer be charged...."

    I'm not siding with them, these sort of things are deceptive and they're now appearing North of the border. The only way to get your free credit report (and score) from these jokers is to request it and then immediately cancel your membership/subscription/recurring fee.

    This is one of those scams that hope you don't read the fine print and that it takes you a few months to notice the recurring charge on your credit cards statement.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

  2. As advertised online or TV, there is no such thing as a free report. they want you to pay them a fee so you can look at your score once a month.

    If you want a truly free report, and live in the US, contact the big three report companies, and tell them you want your free yearly report. By law, they are required to send you one FREE [yes really[ once a year. Those companies are Equfax, Experian, and TRW. In fact, if you stagger when you ask each for your report, you will get a free report from one or the other every 3 or 4 months. For example, ask Experian for your free report in January, Equifax in June, and TRW in November, and that's 3 free reports a year. Keep in mind though that you can only get ONE free report from any given company per year.

    And one last thing: credit reports tell EVERYTHING about you and your credit; if someone else got a hold of it, you'd be a perfect target for identity theft. Identity theft is THE fastest growing crime in America.
