I subscribed to my own 'email discussion' YahooGroup using a different email address from my normal one - just to test how the group worked. It worked okay except for using Groupname-unsbscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk which didn't work at all.

The trial person was a member of my group but not signed up to Yahoo. Does this make a difference?

I know that there are other ways to leave a group but I would really like to make this way work for our future members!

  1. the unsubscribe by e-mail Yahoo Groups Blog says is fixed, obviously it isn't.

for future members, not knowing when it'll be fixed (it's been this way for months) you might want to consider an auto file and offering to remove those members who can only leave via that e-mail command

you also may want to consider reporting this, the more reports maybe it'll finally get fixed

  2. For your group, find the member in the members list and you can click remove. Sending an email is a lousy way to leave a group. A better way to advise your members: Go to the group's site, click on edit membership along the top. In the next window scroll down and check leave group Click save changes and you should be out. It may take a day to take effect.
