1. why don't you click the add to dictionary button when the spell checker comes up

  2. The only way you will find out is to do a little research. You could try one of the census records if he was old enough to be on one in 1930, or maybe his birth certificate or death certificate would give the information of where his parents were born. Of course the family might have been here several generations before his birth, in which case you will have to go back until you find the immigrant who came to the US and see where they came from.

    Panko Name Meaning and History

    Hungarian (Pankoó): from a pet form of the personal name Pongrac. Compare Pankratz**.

    Ukrainian and Slovak: from the personal name Panko, a pet form of various names starting with Pa-.

    Ukrainian: nickname from a diminutive of Ukrainian "pan" ‘lord’, ‘landlord’.

    ** Pankratz Name Meaning and History

    German: from the medieval personal name Pankratz, the vernacular form of Latin "Pancratius" (Greek Pankratios, from "pankrates" ‘"all-in wrestler"’, from "pan" ‘all’, ‘every’ + "kratein" ‘to conquer, subdue’, re-analysed by early Christians as meaning ‘Almighty’ and thus a suitable epithet of Christ). The name was borne by a 4th-century Christian martyr in Rome, hence its popularity as a personal name in the Middle Ages

    Panko is made from bread without crusts, thus it has a crisper, airier texture than most types of breading found in Western cuisine. In Japanese, panko refers to all types of breadcrumb, not just the flaky variety used for frying. (It is used to create a crunchy coating for fried foods).

    Japanese ="Panko"

    English = "Breadcrumbs"

    (Judging from the name meanings above, you are more likely to be Hungarian/German, instead of Japanese. )

  4. According to Ancestry.com, it could be Hungarian or Ukrainian:

    Panko Name Meaning and History:

    Ukrainian and Slovak: from the personal name Panko, a pet form of various names starting with Pa-.

    Ukrainian: nickname from a diminutive of Ukrainian pan ‘lord’, ‘landlord’.

    it means you are part bread, not Japanese. and yeast infections may be hereditary. sorry, that was a crumby joke.

  6. Research to see where he was born at and lived in his early life,unless you already know.Ya,it does sound Japanese.If he's from a large city like New York City,New Orleans, the Los Angeles area, or the San Francisco area where many immigrants go to than its a good chance he could be an immigrant from Japan.Or his parents were could of been.And possably his family could have lived in a Japenese community for generations-that happens a lot to.
