1. i think she's being unfair. she could help you out a little. being a full time student with no income is not as easy as they make it out to be.

whatever you do try being rational while talking things thru.

mom's react better when spoken to calmly and given a solid reason. right?

  2. Listen to mom on this.

You will appreciate the money when you get out of school and are trying to pay off loans, get a job, buy a house etc. The need for money never ends. You will regret spending it on beer and pizza now.

How about getting a part time job. I was a full time student once too....and many full time students work part time to help with the bills.

What would you do if that money was not there?

  3. Okay, so your 18 years old and when you turned 18 you agreed with your mother that you would take $6,500 and to save the rest.

Because your still 18 that tells us that you have gone through $6,500 in less than a year. Let me guess, the "can of worms" you opened is related to your mother wanting to know how you spent all that money in such a short period of time.

I know when your 18 it is hard to believe that your mother is right - but it seems that she knows given the opportunity you will blow what's left.

Don't forget your mom on Mother's Day. (This Sunday)

  4. Is she right about what??

You're 18. You're young, you've got lots of energy. You CAN get at least a part time job, and earn some money.

  5. She is correct. You are young and probably spending money on unneeded materialistic things. You probably don't have a lot of bills right now at your age. If you go through that money, what do you do when you are living on your own and out of work with NOTHING left to help yourself?

Let that money sit and earn interest. You could be the first of your friends to own their own home. Save that money and get a job. I was a full time student and worked 2 jobs. It isn't easy and sometimes not fun, but I'm better off than all my friends.

  6. Your a adult and its your money contact whoever holds your settlement and take charge. I know she is your mom but your in school and that's important she should want to see her baby succeed. Could she possibly be spending the money? Just a question not anything against your mom.
