what do you think of Italians??
Tags:
Italians are just people, like anyone else. Italians in the U.S. are rarely like the people of Italia. Italians Americans often exaggerate things (Guidos/Guidettes), what a colossal crock of s**t. It is embarrassing for me to say that I am Italian American, because of the stereotypical bullshit Americans see on television.
Life it Italia is much different. Italy is for the most part very poor economically. Life could be a struggle for average citizens. Difference is, they seem to lack motivation (unlike Americans). Instead of working 12 hours a day, true Italians in Italy, much rather go to the beach. Which is understandable, but it is also part of the reason they are a poor country.
As for manners, you will find both polite and rude a******s everywhere. Italians are certainly no exception to this rule. Some of the most rude persons I have encountered, have been in Italia. On the other hand, if someone likes you, you will be accepted with open arms.
The food is overrated. Honestly. The best Italian food you will ever eat, will be in the U.S.A..
It is expensive to live in Italia. Much more so than in the U.S. And it is much, much, different. If you have lived in America most of your life, you will be shocked in Italy. Compared to the U.S., it is second world, almost third world. I know, I divide my time equally in the U.S. and Italia.
Fortunately, I rather like the very slow pace of life there, and can afford to spend my time relaxing. But for an American looking to move there and work and go about an average life, it will most definitely be a culture shock.
I'm not trying to be a wiseass, I am simply lending my honest opinion.
I do however, encourage anyone truly interested, to go for a visit. perhaps you may find it is to your liking. I certainly enjoy my time living in Italia...but I will always be American first, regardless of my Italian heritage.
