1. male calicoes can go for up to 4,000 they are one of the worlds rarest types of cat...

  2. Calico females should never be worth that much unless it's a breed that would already cost that much to begin with. A generic domestic cat should be relatively cheap. I bought my Calico kittens (both female) for 2$ US each (but I'm also in China.)

However, like that other person said, a Calico male is very rare. This is due to the genetics of the Calico coat. So I could imagine a male one costing quite a bit.

This is the reason why. The calico is brought upon by the X chromosomes. O in the x chromosome makes a cat orange. o makes it not orange. Oo makes some area orange, some areas non-orange/ But the only way to have Oo is to have XX, and XX is a female.

The chance of a male Calico is about 1 in 1000, and this is because the Male cat would have to be XXY in order for this happen.

  3. Although male calico are rare, monetary wise, they do not worth a fortune. This is unfortunately a common misconception. Male calico are also mostly sterile and since they are a kind of genetic mutation, they are not used in any breeding program. If you were to look at adoption centers, you will see many homeless male calico, just as you would in craiglist of lj. Simply put, they shouldn't be sold at a high price and one shouldn't buy them at a high price. All cats, in my eyes, are priceless, irregardless of breed of coat color. ")
