My fiance and I are planning a wedding, and I'd like to find some nice, affordable wedding dresses from the medieval/Renaissance/Victorian/Goth eras. Please don't confuse Gothic with the dark clothing and such, I'm asking about the Gothic period inspired by German architecture in medieval times.

If you could post some links to dresses or patterns for these dresses, please do.

  1. Theres a few different ones here: http://www.costume-company.co.uk/wedding...

  2. Go to ebay and search for medievil or reniassance dresses...many seamstresses take customer orders there and the gowns are gorgeous.

  3. i don't know where you are from, but this is where i got all my dresses from, both the brides maids and mine, mine is called "brenna" and the brides maids is midieval wedding, both are under the midieval section

  4. well, medieval, renn, victorian, and gothic are all COMPLETELY different periods in history!

a medieval gown tends to be more long and flowy. Think of the girls dresses in a knight's tale, many robes and VERY long flowing sleeves. rennaisance (depending on the country) has a fitted waist, more fitted bodice and variations of sleeves.

Victorian was about 200 years ago. Think tight corsets, bustles, high collars, etc....The dress in your pic is more of a victorian style corset with modern fishtail skirt. If you are looking for somethiing truly renaissance-like, look at theelizabethancostumepage.com for pics. check out some of the paintings of the period. It looks like you are wanting something more like this: http://rivendellbridal.com/
