if i have 2 machines on a network and share files between them. if i share machine a's entire hard drive on the network can i boot of off of machine a's hard drive insted of machine b's internal hard drive and accsess all program's and files on machine b like it was a second internal hard drive in machine a. and how would i do something like that?

  1. You would have to be running a network boot server of some kind, not just Windows File Sharing.

    You would then set up your BIOS to boot from network.

    I don&#039;t know the specifics behind that kind of set up, but I do know its possible. (Look up thin clients)

  3. No - You BIOS will not allow it

  4. Though you can share an entire hard drive with the system files on it, you will not be able to boot another machine from this hard drive. TO boot from the network you will need a PXE Bootable network card and a Service that supports network booting, like RIS/WDS in Microsoft Windows Servers. What you boot into will depend on how you configure these services.
