1. Had a few encounters. Nothing major. Made sure we were tied off, wearing hard hats, and steel toed shoes. Checked for operator licenses etc. They aren't that bad.

  2. I had a very bad experience with them. OSHA was adopted because the UNIONS wanted it. I was working as a maintenance supervisor for a very large corporation. When OSHA came into the plant, they were unannounced and guided through the plant by a Union shop stewart. Management was not permitted to forewarn it's supervisors.

Any way, this guy walks into my maintenance shop and starts looking around. When I spotted him, I confronted him and asked him who he was, how he got past the guard at the gate, and what he was doing in my department. (This was when OSHA was first formed). He came back with "Who are you?" I told him and said, "You'll have to leave" and tried to escort him out of the plant. He gave a loud whistle and four other men, followed by four Union shop Stewart's came surging into my department. Before they left, I had $7,893.00 in "violations", and I caught he** from the plant supervisor!

OSHA, along with Unionism, the EPA and Tax on Inventory are the four main reasons most of our manufacturing has left for greener pastures (like China).

  3. I met some and never had a problem. The contractors that ignore the safety rules are the problem. I kept my crews safe and within the rules. They are trying to make our jobs safer, but some of the rules seem to have been written by arm chair carpenters and electricians that have never climbed a ladder or held a hammer.

  4. people who abide by the rules have no problems with OSHA people who don't give a d**n about safety and could not care less if people get hurt just so long as the job is done have problems with OSHA
