the peacock pounches upon it.if their speeds are equal,at what distance from the hole is the snake caught?

    the hypotenus of that triangle (the distance the bird travels going from the perch to the ground) is always going to be longer than the side (where the snake goes)..

    if they move the same speed the snake will always be ahead of the bird as the bird is travel a greater distance at the same rate...

    hmmm i didn&#039;t see all of that cut off stuff.. i didn&#039;t know how to view it untill now..

    But even though the former is easier to read, it is still seems incomplete, and it is hard to make much sense of the question.

    The peacock pounces upon it. If their speeds are equal, at what distance from the hole is the snake caught?

    this is much more a math or or physics question than a zoology one.

    This is one of the equations I can&#039;t remember how to do, I could do it by successive approximation, but that is not the elegant way to do it.

    Anyway, by successive approximation (which wasn&#039;t really successive since I nailed it first try) the distance is 12 cubits. and both the peacock and the snake travel 15 cubits before they meet.
