Oops!!!..........................

i was attaching my Alpine type R to my box and the screwdriver slipped and punch a hole into the rubber excursion part thats on the outside of the front of the cone....its a small hole...the kind that opens up when you press on it cuz i guess its rubber....i put a layer of super glue and gorilla glue over the area but im worried about what happens when i put it on my amp....do you think this is a big problem? it was a flat head s***w driver so its a thin hole not a round one........did i just ruin my sub?!?!

  1. Is what you need is some RTV silicone. I did the samething to a set of 6.5" components that I have. On the back side of the surround is where you need to apply the RTV. On the front side of the surround put some scotch tape on there to hold that area of the surround done, apply the RTV to the back side of it, let it cure before you turn the subs on though. Do that and they are as good as new.

Food for though, Elemental Designs has a sub that compares to the Alpine Type R, I think it sounds better and responds faster. But that is my preference though. They cost less than the Type R, since you cut out the middle mad and order them direct from the factory.

  2. dang alpine type R's are the best subs to me

but i think you will be fine

my friend has 2 of these

and his first one got demolished

the cone got seperated entirley from the woofer cone, he put gorilla glue on it and its fine! same with his other excpet the outter rim of the surround came off from the sub frame, he super glued that and its fine. so you should be ok

  3. u should be fine.. but that really sucks!!

n i would use that silicone glue but the gorrilla glue prolly be good..
