1. its old blood blood turn brown when dead so yes u r going to start soon

  2. yeah you started. I started mine like that too. I was going potty and looked down at my undies and saw a huge dark spot. Once you wipe a few times you'll see blood. Trust me girly.

TIP: Eat bananas for cramps and if that doesn't help buy some cheap ibuprofen.

  3. If the stain was in the middle of the gusset of your pants then yes congrats this is your first period . Period blood can turn brown when it has been in the air for a while .

  4. That sounds like you're starting.

When I was 14 I still hadn't started then I got a dark brown stain in my knickers and it started from there.

The colour of your periods isn't always red, it can be different variants fo the colour and if its dark that can still be your periods.

Chances are that you're spotting which means you'll start soon, theres just small amounts of blood. you probably won't get a full flow (where you need to use tampons and sanitary towels to catch the blood).

And congratualtions!! You've got some great fun ahead of you! Lol

  5. when you wiped your self after u peed did the tissue have the same colour on it aswell. it sounds like you have started unless you pooed yourself. your periods are not always red usually at the end they can get darker. but everyone is different.

  6. yeh, that is a period. sometimes they start off brown, turn red and then brown again over a week or so. yes you have definatly started your periods.

  7. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats that is your period when you use the bathroon you will be able to tell for sure............................

  8. Nooo the sign that you will get is a big red stain!

you will most definitely know when you have gotten your first period

  9. it does sound like you could have started, and now is usually the time to start. Blood is red, but sometimes it comes out brown/darker, and maybe it's just the stain is darker in your knickers? x

  10. yeah its starting it just takes the body time to have it all working. its red to start with then brown. its ok, your get used to it when you start properly

when you start your periods will be irregular and light

  11. You have started your period. Yes blood is red, dried blood is brown.

  12. Don't worry its just your body telling you to be ready and prepared for your periods to start, your at the right age to start so my guess is it'll be coming in the next few days, you'll get used to it after a while and then you should settle into your cycle

  13. It isnt a sign.Blood is red, it gets brown when it dries.U got ur period already

  14. congrats you are now a woman, and have an excuse to eat loads of chocolate and be stroppy every month. yep that is your period. when the blood dries it is brown, don't expect it to be red all the time, it varies during your period and with each month. tip: i find its normally red to begin with and browner the last few days. oh and don't worry if your next one doesn't come on time, when you first start they are irregular. good luck!

  15. Yes it's very likely that your periods have started. Mine usually start & end like that.

  16. yes its normal.. that's what happened to me. it looks almost like you pooed you pants. but first periods usually have brown stuff for about a day before it turns red. also some signs that you are getting your period(they vary from girl to girl but you will learn to recognize your own) you may have a little nausea, and mood swings where you feel really depressed then the next minute really happy.. you will probably have cramp which are low(just below your hips) and also your b*****s might feel sore. periods are hard at first but you get used to them. congrats on starting your period and becoming a woman.

  17. Honey its your period. When you first start it is a brownish colour but when you get older it will become more of a reddish colour. Go and tell your mum/guardian and they will help you. Don't be scared every girl gets it.

  18. Heather, dried blood always turns brown because of the lack of oxygen in the red blood cells. The reason blood looks red when it's fresh is because it gets exposed to the air, and that makes it look that way. Red blood cells are designed to carry oxygen to the organs and tissues of the body- that's their function. When there is no longer any oxygen around, the cells die, and they turn brown or black in color.

In your case, it definitely sounds as though you have your first period- you are the right age. You need to tell your mom what's going on, and ask her for some pads, so you can protect your clothes and keep yourself clean until you can get a supply of your own. This is nothing to be ashamed of or afraid of- menstruation is normal thing which happens to ALL women and girls over a certain age. If women did not have periods, they could not have children. You also need to understand that having periods means that you can get pregnant now if you have s*x- something which is NOT recommended at your age. Most girls are irregular in their periods when they first start having them- it takes time for your system to adjust to the change and establish a regular pattern. It's also common for the first periods to be very heavy- again, this is a function of your system's attempts to adjust itself.

Most boys and all men generally know about menstruation and about how a girl's body works- so you need not worry about someone teasing you because you have your period. The blood and tissue which are released at that time only amount to few ounces in total volume- and that blood is quickly replaced by your body. Menstrual blood is not "dirty" blood- it's just what's leftover when the uterine lining breaks down at the end of each of your cycles. If you have cramps ( and many girls do, especially when they first start their periods) then ask your mom for some Advil or tylenol, and use a heating pad on your lower abdomen or back. You can also try getting some moderate exercise, such as going for a long walk. Exercise helps stimulate uterine contractions, and it relieves pain and is a big mood elevator. It will also help you sleep better at night.

Lastly, it goes without saying that it's important to keep yourself really clean during your periods. You need to bathe daily, and wash your hair as often as necessary. Just take care not to get chilled when drying off, and to dry your hair off if you are going to go outside in wet or cold weather. The reason for this is because your sweat glands and the oil glands in your skin are much more active than usual around the time of your periods, and lack of cleanliness can contribute to oily hair, body odors, acne, and other skin problems. Greasy, dirty hair not only looks bad, it smells terrible and can be hard to manage or style. The same thing applies to your skin, especially to your face- if you want to avoid or minimize acne and pimples ( what kids your age call "zits") then you must wash your face a couple of times a day, and use an astringent cleaner on it in between washings. Likewise, you also need to pay attention to what you eat and drink- cut out the greasy foods and the junk food, eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables ( even if you don't like them) and drink lots of water. Make sure you get enough sleep too- girls your age need 9 to 10 hours of sleep a night. Sleep restores your ability to learn and concentrate, and will help you do well in school.

It's smart to keep track of when you have your periods by using a calendar- that will help you predict when each one is likely to start and end, and you can be prepared for them. Keeping sanitary supplies in your locker at school is also a good idea- that way, you don't have to go see the nurse for them, which in turn will have the effect of limiting the number of people who know what's happening to just yourself.

I hope this clears up some of your confusion, Heather. I work in the medical field as a coder, and part of my job is knowing things like this so I can code medical records for doctors. I am also a woman- and I was where you are now at one time, many years ago. Good luck.
