  1. 1. There are many reasons. The rider may be giving wrong cues, or they may be jumping to early/late.

    2. Having a horse in frame allows a rider to collect/extend the gaits.

    3. Do a lap of the arena at the working gait, and count the stirdes. Whenever you get back to the start point, ask for extension. Count the strides again. If you have impulsion, there will be fewer strides the second time around.

    4. A horse with an overbite is called &quot;parrot mouthed&quot;.

    5. They are used as quick fixes for a horse that needs more training. If a person strictly wants to compete, they will go to a harsher aid instead of correctly training the horse.
