What is your view on rap?

Sorry, I think it&#039;s completely annoying, boring, and predictable. it&#039;s all about self-aggrandizement, ego, aggression, etc, glamorizing violence and greed. Where is the art? The beauty? The MUSICIANSHIP? I totally abhor it. I always found it interesting that they STEAL music from people who actually have talent, like ROCK songwriters.

there is some great rap out there, i can&#039;t say that any rapper that is mainstream today is releasing good stuff

lil wayne is garbage

immortal technique is probably my favorite rapper

shyne and jadakiss are real good too, so is gang star and benefit

I only like a tiny bit of rap and the more good/respectable artists (tupac, eminem....not much else really, immortal technique)...the rest of it (for the most part) is just an insult to music...

i like a little. mostly old stuff. i have about 800 songs on my phone id say about 30 songs are rap/hip hop. ive listened to more then 200 others easily. these 30 songs have actual meaning to them theyre not the typical R&amp;B love song or *** and b*tches rap song. the thing is i get bored with same beat for 3 straight minutes. id have to say my favorite rap song is hate it or love it by 50 cent and then after that probably like toy soldiers by eminem. i also like a lot of run dmc. like someone above me said, it used to be a great, respectable musical genre. but today&#039;s rappers are virtually the same. and i have listened to more than enough to have an informed opinion. the majority of them are some kind of paraphrase of shake your *** b*tch. every once in a while you come across a really good one thats worth actually listening to in a place other than a club, and those are the ones i add to my phone

rap was actually pretty good 20-30 years ago. it actually had meaning. now it&#039;s WTF...but flobots isn&#039;t too bad. they are a rap/rock band though, so not sure if they count.

rap was supposed to let anger out. now most of it is on stupid things like s*x, drugs, violence c**p.

I think Rap is a great genre. I&#039;m not into to mainstream Rap though. I have nothing but respect for Rap. I don&#039;t listen to it much but I don&#039;t really know where to start.

only rap i like is public enemy, run dmc, beastie boys, tone loc, and cypress hill.

I can tolerate small amounts of it, I am aware that not all of is mindless talking about hoes but it&#039;s just not my cup of tea.

I have heard some rap and I can handle a few songs... I like GrandMaster Flash, SugarHill Gang, even... some eminem... Mama Said Knock You Out... but I really dislike the sexual and violence driven rap... A lot of Heavy Metal is lame with it&#039;s Dungeons and Dragons lyrics and the lame band logos and stuff, I don&#039;t listen to the Death Metal or Grindcore junk.... When it is clever and makes a point, I value rap as an outlet and window into urban life... but at its worst it makes millionaires out of people that would be selling drugs or pimping women if not for music... It is a tough call... I know that when my wife and I are walking across a parking lot and heading into a mall that I don&#039;t often like what I do hear coming out of the speakers of the rides of the homies that cruise the mall.

I&#039;m not a fan of it. It&#039;s usually just rapping about chillin wit ma G&#039;z gettin some hos doin sum drugz what what.

But seriously that&#039;s all I really hear today.

But I don&#039;t mind rap-rock like Rage Against the Machine (love them)

There are a few good rap songs, like Eminem&#039;s Stan, but they are an exception.

Rap is mostly meaningless and unoriginal, all the songs are about is s*x, drugs, money, guns, and of course the rapper&#039;s massive ego.  Hip hop is the same, meaningless.
