Sorry, must be that full moon that's not full yet.

So, for the question.......

Do you think that Rodeo Cowboys should be considered the same caliber as Ranch Cowboys.

I think the for the most part, Ranch cowboys are a whole different language of Cowboy from the Rodeo Cowboy.

(For the most part I said).

  1. i think its different because ranchers are going out moving the cows and working with them but their not that different

  2. No, I don't think they are the same, maybe just a different category?

It's the whole how to define a cowboy question again, and I still don't know the answer, but I tend to believe that a real cowboy has lived a life that many rodeo performers never have and never probably will. It's like one is the real thing and the rest are actors? Like I said, I don't know the answer.

  3. They are pretty much the same.... cowboys who ride, know everything there is to know about ranch life. There is either a cowboy or a wannabe.. if they can ride bulls, rope cattle, wrestle cattle, pull a trailer, have horses.. they have to have a place to ride their horses and practice so they have to have cows, they have to know how to mend fences, if they have cattle they have to brand them and de bug them, so yes they are considered a cowboy. If there are in a big time rodeo they are more of a cowboy then anyone else who just tries to be one or tries to own horses. What about hunter jumper they only jump poles, out here our horses jump logs that big when we are out gathering cattle. There are very few of us still, don't put the ones that are still cow folk down just because you don't know the difference. Just because we have running water doesn't make us like too much different then the old days... when we go out on the ranch we even carry pistols just in case, how cowboy is that!!!

  4. totally agree w/ you...they are way different.....ranch cb are much more scruff and punchy.....rodeo cb are kinda pretty.....plus i rope and i cant rope a calf to save my life...if it aint got horns i aint ropen it...and not because i dont want to....i seem to top knot allot....go figure...

btw my q got deleted and half the questions i answered last night got deleted to...how was your evening....lol

  5. I think it depends on the cowboy.

Many rodeo cowboys are also ranch cowboys & many not only ride bulls or broncs, but they also rope & break horses, raise cattle or sheep & crops & do all of the things owning or working a ranch entails. Yet there are ranch cowboys who do not rodeo at all.

  6. No...

I think rodeo cowboys specialize in particular events.

Ranch cowboys need to 'specialize' in everything from calving to castrating. Ranch cowboys need to be able to work with cattle, horses, and fence. They need to be knowledgeable about everything that makes a ranch work...just my opinion though...

I think everyone got tired from the troll bashing earlier...

  7. I'm not sure what you mean by the question but I kinda think its one of those things where rodeo cowboy is for fun and entertainment where as ranch cowboys do it because that's life on the ranch. They don't go out on the ranch with big fancy saddles, and dress shirts, they only get paid what they make on the ranch. Not some entry fee and money back.
