1. http://www.skatelog.com/fitness/stretchi...

Thats how I got my stretch habit going.

  2. Here is a link for general stretches specifically for skating . . . it will tell you the moves the stretch will help with, what muscle group it will help with, with an illustration of how it should be done.

Don't forget to read "Notes On Stretching" first to make sure you warmp up/stretch correctly.

See if your rink offers an off ice stretch class. It's good to have a trained eye make sure you are doing the stretches correctly (yes, it's possible to stretch incorrectly!).

    Happy skating!

  3. it helps to run a lot and maybe gymnastics, also try doing push ups but with your feet, like use the upper middle part of your foot and put it on your stairs, then go up and down.

  4. like warm-up stretches or at home stretches (yes there are different kinds)

warm-up stretches are simple things before you get on the ice to prevent injury.

try making circles with your body. arm circles, wrist circles, neck, hips, shoulders, ankles,

    then do lunges

shoot the ducks (dont touch the ground getting up)

spiral positions (find a chair to hold)

and put one foot against a wall so your toes are pointing up, but heel is still on the ground. then bend your knee to touch the wall. after that keep your knee straight and without bending your back make your nose touch the wall. try on both feet.

    then at home stretching:

    splits

    bridges

    leg holding

    beillmans

    laybacks

    and such things.

if you dont get some of my lingo (like beillman) look it up on youtube.

  5. i would suggest doing a stratle.. stretching while reaching to the middle, right and left. then put your toes together, and reach for them. afterwards do a butterfly stretch. practice trying to do your side and foward splits, and they will get better increasingly over time. also you could stabd up, and do a spiral, bringing up your leg as high as it can go, on both sides, lastly, stretch out your back, by doing some sort of stretch like doing a bridge or something where you feel your back stretching. stretches like these will loosen you up and help to stretch out some of the main areas you will need when you are getting to higher levels. you can also find a lot about stretching by googling, or even more on youtube. hope that helped, .. and remember, the more you stretch, the more felible you will ger! good luck in your skating! =)
