1. I think we should pay the same percentage rate. If the tax rate is 10%, a person making 30,000 pays $3,000. A person making $300,000 pays $30,000. The rate is the same but one person is paying ten times the amount paid by the other person.

  2. Define "Rich." I've been in countries where "Rich" is anyone who makes more than $15 a month. Do not begrudge the person who has seemingly made all of the right decisions in life. Do not begrudge him his keep and do not try and steal for yourselves his money. He may be the one who provides you with employment and food to eat. Instead, strive to make better choices and free yourself from debt.

What would you do if there were no taxes (social programs), steal from him because he has and you have not?

  3. 10 percent across the board is fair for everyone. The rich shouldn't be punished just because they have more YET they pay LESS than 10% of their income where as the lower class pays 33% and the middle about 55%.Then the conservatives lie and say the rich pay the most taxes.I remember they said Billionaire Ross Perot only paid 6%.

  4. The low class barely pay any taxes at all as it is, they also have access to 100's of social programs that are not available to middle and upper. So there is no need to lower taxes for them. I would like to see the "fair tax" come into play myself. I'm tired of carrying the burden.

  5. The fair tax is the best plan out there today, but it has little or no support from the Congress and Senate. Under this plan no one could escape paying their fair share even illegal immigrants and criminals.

The top 1 percent of income earners, by household, paid 39 percent of all federal income taxes in 2005, whereas the bottom 50 percent paid a little over 3 percent. Further, 32 percent of all tax returns filed in 2005 were from people who paid no federal income tax at all.

We need to make Bush's tax cut permanent, if you over tax the rich there is no incentive for them to stay in business or open new businesses.

America has the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world and that accounts for many industries moving abroad.
