Ok, so Vegetarians think it's wrong to eat meat. Most Vegetarians say that it's inhumane and wrong, but the thing is, other animals, like lions eat other animals like gazelle, is that wrong? Humans are animals to, so isn't it just natural that we can eat other animals? Like if a mountain lion gets a chance it would kill you in a instant and eat you up, but it's wrong for a human to do the same to other animals (like cows)?

  1. Yeah, but the lions and tigers don't keep the gazelles in little tiny pens and treat them horrible before they eat them...

  2. The main difference is that humans have a choice about what to eat. Most carnivorous animals do not have a choice about what they can eat - they must consume meat to survive. Humans don't.

We seem, from looking at the research at least, to thrive much better on a diet of largely plant foods - we do not have the same physiology or digestive system as natural carnivores, and generally speaking, the more animal products people eat, the sicker they tend to be in the long run. If a plant diet is well balanced, it appears to provide for all of our nutrition needs, without the health, moral or environmental dilemmas associated with killing animals.

I think too whatever your position on this, anyone can agree that factory farming is cruel, wasteful, and unecessary - if you want meat, it should not be raised like this. Working in factory farming is dangerous to health and wellbeing for humans as well as animals too (read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser for more on this). Going veggie is a good way of protesting against that system, which is why I am veggie.

  3. Some vegetarians choose not t eat meat because of the mass-killing in the production of store-bought products, and they cannot bring themselves to do their own hunting, so they end up just cutting meat out altogether.

Others just do not like meat.

  4. I am a vegetarian and I don't think it is wrong for other people to eat meat. I just don't think it's right for myself.

And I do think that it is wrong the way people treat the animals they raise for food especially chickens. I mean, you are gonna kill the animal already, the least you can do is give it a good life before you slit it's throat.

  5. Not all people are vegetarians because they think it's wrong to eat meat. Some just don't like meat. Also lions are carnivores and don't have the ability to use non-meat protein substitutions like we as humans do. It isn't necessary for humans to eat meat, just like cookies or cakes, but we still do because we like it.

  6. well, if a lion evolved, it may not eat meat. a lion eats meat because of instinct, and because that's all it's diet lets it.

animals like lions are carnivores. their bodies can't turn an apple into the energy it needs to, because it's not the right kind of nutrients.

as humans we are omnivores. we can turn both herbs and meat into the stuff we need to live.

  7. Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” theory is certainly an accurate description of “nature’s law.” But the animals who kill other animals for food do so because they have no choice in the matter. They would starve to death otherwise. However, we hold ourselves to a higher standard in our interactions with each other and with the animals we love and protect—animals like dogs and cats. Animal rights advocates believe that we should show this compassion to all animals. Please examine the sad lives and gruesome deaths of animals on factory farms and in slaughterhouses—there is no way to argue that what happens to these animals is morally right.

  8. Many of you have posted answers to this question along the lines of animals don't have choices about what they eat but people do. The fact of the matter is, that's not necessarily true for everyone. If you want to veg and have the ability to do it, that's great for you. But NOT EVERYBODY is that blessed. If you can afford tofu, watercress, and fancy fruits, nuts, and grains from the healthfood store, that's great, but all people are not that fortunate. There are and have been, throughout the years, people who have depended heavily on hunting as a source of food, lest they starve. In fact, I'm familiar with a family who has to obtain most of their food from hunting , because they make little money and their house payment takes almost their entire paycheck, leaving them almost nothing for groceries and they also live in a part of the country that's cold more of the year than not, so growing vegetation is limited. I know many may not like this, but I agree with the poster of this question and do not feel there is anything wrong with us comsuming meat or using animals for our own benefit. I love animals and I'm all for their humane treatment, but people have to do what they need to in order to survive the same way animals do. So if you wan to be veg and have it open as an easy opportunity for you, by all means go for it, but don't assume it's as easily a viable option for everyone.

  9. yeahh but lions don't keep animals confined in creates

have you seen the way the are treated?

i'd eat meat if they weren't so cruel to the animals before they killed them and it's also bad for the environment google it you'll see, I'm too lazy to type so whatever.

  10. You Don't Get It Do You..Look,Lions Need To Eat Meat And They Hunt On Instinct..Its In Their Blood To Kill. If Lions Ate Meat,They Would Be Very Unhealthy. They Wouldn't Know What Else To Eat! But We Have Tons Of Other Things To Eat Rather That Animals..And Us Humans Don't Have To Eat Meat..We Choose To Do So..

  11. We hear this all the time. You're not original at all. The difference is the other animals have to kill to survive. We don't need meat to survive. We have other choices. Also, the lion doesn't raise animals in horrid conditions on factory farms.

    www.meat.org.

Google factory farms and maybe you will understand the choices vegetarians and vegans have made. Coming in to this section and making assumptions without first doing some research makes you look like you don't truly care...It makes you look like you are just here to start something.
