Hi I'm looking to buy my 1st car. Just passed my test. I was thinking of getting a Renault Megane. I'm in my mid 20's, will it be expensive to insure?

I just haven't got a clue.

Thanks in advance

  1. You can easily get online quotes. But yes, you will be looking at a high premium. QOS Ben is right. Aim small until you have built up your no claims bonus. A 1.2 Clio or similar would be cheaper. A Citroen C1 is group 1, as are many others, if you need to keep your premiums low.

  2. I would try www.travelsupermarket.com or www.confused.com that way you can compare different prices. If you are buying the car in your name add a parent onto the quote, it normally signifcantly reduces the cost!

  3. I have met this kind of situation before, here is the place I found useful.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  4. anyway your first car and first year insurance will be a bit expensive as you have just got your licence and if you are below the age of 23 then you are dead..........dont get me wrong.........so what i will suggest go for a car which has a smaller engin, which will atleast save you some money.....and finally when you give the information for the insurance online, be careful and dont save it, then you cann't compare next time.

    best luck

  5. Best way to find out is to talk to an independent agent, one not tied to any big box insurance company.  Give him your needs and your information, he will search his data base and find the best deal for you.

  6. You will have to do some quotes. A 5 door Clio would be much cheaper I would imagine with a smaller engine.

  7. For auto insurance the most efficient way to get a good quote is do a policy comparison on car policies. Make sure that you choose similar policies with the same deductibles, auto make, location, etc so that all options are an accurate comparison.

What I most often recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and will give many quotes on car insurance polices.

  8. Amongst other considerations, the insurance "group" the car is in affects your insurance premium. You should be looking for a car in as low a group as you can stand. This site lists cars by group, both ways round, you can either look up a specific car or look at what's in each group:- http://www.parkers.co.uk/insurance/

    Hope that helps.
