  1. Studying does depend on the person and the subject being studied.

I always read aloud whatever it is that I am studying. Then I have someone quiz me when I've read it through. If I miss a question, I reread that part over until I get it.

I have a friend who rewites whatever she doesn't remember. She finds that it helps to rewrite it because copying it again forces you to remember the words in your head.

Visually, flash cards can help. If you write one word on one side and have someone "flash" you, seeing the word on the card might help you remember. If you don't know it, rereading the answer on the back may help you remember also.

Try to find some sort of connection with whatever you're trying to remember. Maybe something in history will remind you of something one of your friends did last week. Making a connection helps you remember. Try making an acronym, too. (When the first letter of each word is used to make a new word.)

If you study for a while and then go to bed, it might help you remember it also.

Hope I helped! Good luck! =]

  2. Each person has a different study method that works best for them.  What worked best for me was to review the notes I had taken in class (highlighting parts that I had forgotten or needed help with - note that highlighter or any bright color helps with memory retention!), and then went back and reviewed the chapter(s), always taking the pretest at the end after reviewing vocabulary.  You may choose to make flash cards, or study with a partner (as long as you are both focused) and quiz eachother.

    Good luck with your exams!
