  1. it dont really matter. You will have to go to a trucking school anyway and they arent going to look at your high school transcripts

  2. im an onwer operator ,my truck my trailer ,you need every thing ,from reading to math .you have to be able to read a map understand shipping orders figure out what permitts you need how mutch fuel you will need how mutch the load and truck weighs and remember when you fuel diesel weighs 8 pounds a gallon you have to keep track so your not over weght when you fuel up but if i could give you some advice it would be never stop learning stay in school ,good luck and i hope to see ya down the road take care

  3. Math, weights, reading comprehension.  It also helps if you learn to read and understand a map, which I'm sure they don't teach in school.

There isn't a lot of complex math involved, but real-world addition, subtraction, multiplication & division are real important.  Your logbooks require addition & subtraction to add up your hours worked in the week, and subtract from the maximum you're allowed to work.  You'll need to be able to calculate an estimated time of arrival based on distance and speed, or determine how much weight you're adding to the truck when you fill the tank with fuel.  The list goes on...but it's not rocket science.

Also, as you mature, focus on interpersonal communication, and handling conflicts in a productive way.  You won't necessarily have a LOT of interaction with people, but often times you will run into conflicts or disrespect from shippers, recievers, and dispatchers.  Your job will be much easier if you learn how to handle these things without getting angry or yelling :).

  4. set higher goal

  5. Math, weights, and a lot of common sense. I dont thing you will be able to get a Commercial License until you are 21 and 25 if you want to haul hazardeous materisls. Math is important as you will be resposnible to ensure packing and load weights are not exceeded. I also say weights as you will be responsible to ensure each item is loaded properly. you can go to your local DMV and get a commercial drivers hand book. You might even be able to download from the internet.
