  1. DC is very pretty in the Spring - you will be there for decent weather, before the humid summer. Washington is not that expensive a city...you will do relatively well as the pound is so strong right now. I wouldn't worry about your budget. There are plenty of inexpensive places to stay and eat.

Definitely visit georgetown when you are there - you can catch the train there (but DC trains do not run late at night, so check the schedule so you don't get stuck) The Museums are excellent, the nightlife is fun... there is a lot to see. Hit the fleamarkets (depending on when you go ) for some souvenirs that are a bit unique. (the eastern market is the best one)

  2. Typically, national chains have national pricing - most of the variation will be variation will be in local sales taxes. Try the links below for specific items. DC is above average as an expensive metropolitan area in the US but most of that expense is housing and insurance which won't be anywhere near what it is in London.

Today, there are 1.83 US dollars to the U.K. £.

An authentic DC United football jersey will be about 39£.

A nice Greek lunch at Zorba's will be about 5£.

A cab ride from the Capitol to the Jefferson Monument will be about 5£.

Admission to the International Spy Museum will be about 10£.

(All national monuments, memorials, museums, the zoo are free to enter)

A stay at the Hilton Washington (Dupont Circle) will be between 65 and 110 £ this November (I consider this cheap by US standards as well).

    A week-long subway pass is 12£.
