Russia looking forward to maintain dominance in Pool B: 2011 FIVB World League – Volleyball news

Russia is scheduled to take on Team Japan in the opening match of the fourth-week on June 18 in the preliminary matches of 2011 FIVB World League.
The preliminary round of the 2011 FIVB World League has passed the half-way mark and it is quickly moving towards it close. With two more weeks to go, only the best teams will be playing in the Final round. The runner-up team from last year, Russia, is fully
prepared to make their place in the elite group. The Russians are currently in the top position of Pool B after maintaining a record of 6-0.
Today’s match will be hosted by the Russian city of Surgut, while the DS Energetik Sports Arena will be the home of the action. Japan should be an average competitor for Russia. The Japanese have not been able to create any upsets so far. In the first three
weeks, Japan appeared in six matches and staged a shaky performance. They could only capture one match against Germany last week.
This would be the third meeting of the Japanese and Russian men on the courts of the 2011 FIVB World League. The two teams opened the tournament in the first week as the silver medallists proved to be too strong for the Japanese side and defeated them in
both matches. Russia bagged six points from their Japanese encounter.
Russia has certain advantages in the game as they enjoy home court advantage in both matches. The support of fans and familiar conditions will further enhance their performance. Moreover, Russia has been successful in all its previous matches and the Japanese
may just be a minor hurdle in their way to the top.
The Russian run in the tournament so far has been nothing short of excellent. The Russians defeated the Japanese in the opening week of the event. Germany’s team challenged Russia in the second week of the tournament and the Russian hotshots showed no mercy
and edged out Germany without losing a single set. Third week brought Bulgaria and an amazingly assembled Russian team staged incredible prowess on the court and overpowered Bulgaria. They played two matches and both of them were captured by Russia.
In the next run, Russia is all prepared to extend its winning streak. The Japanese squad does not post any threat to the Russians and the squad is determined to put up a combined effort and hold off Japanese team for a solid victory.
